Opening a budget
The text “corrupted” / “Corrupted budget” is added to the description of the budget. How can I solve this issue? I cannot open a budget; its internal structure is corrupted.
It is possible that you receive a notification that your budget is corrupted when you try to open it in IBIS-TRAD. You can opt to open the budget as a “reference.”
Corrupted budgets are shows in the management window with the notification. If you opened the budget via File/Open/As Budget, first change the budget folder in the folder overview. You can also move the budget to the (standard) folder that is show in the management window.
In most cases, you can resolve these errors yourself by completing the following steps:
Make sure the budget is shown in the IBIS-TRAD management screen. Click on the budget with your left mouse button to select it. Click on the budget with your right mouse button and select the Repair option.
(If you want to repair multiple budgets at the same time, select all of them before choosing the Repair option)
If you see the “No errors found” notification, you can once again open the budget in question in the normal manner.
If you see the “Possibly corrupted budget. Consult the log” notification, you must repeat the action until you see the notification that no errors were found.
The log contains a brief overview of the inspection actions and any adjustments that were made.
Please inspect the budget carefully after the repair process before submitting it to your clients. Lines that were modified during the repair process can be identified by the text “Brink” or “Ibis” in the “description” column of the line in question.
If you cannot repair a budget, you can send it to us via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Always include your name, telephone number, IBIS-TRAD version number and licence number.
Sharing/converting files
How can I share budgets between different versions of IBIS-TRAD?
In the menu, you can export a budget as a TRADXML file, which you can then open with a previous version of IBIS-TRAD. Open the budget in question, click on File and choose the “Export” option. You can then export this budget as:
TRADXML (an XML file for an identical version of TRAD, in this case version 7.00)
TRADXML 6.90 (see drop-down menu under Save As)
TRADXML 6.80 (see drop-down menu under Save As)
IBIS-TRAD XTBF budget (Convert SQL budget to XTBF)
In a similar manner, you can import an XML file into IBIS-TRAD via the File / Import menu option. Next, select “TRADXML.”
Note that IBIS-TRAD 5 and IBIS-Infra 3 budgets can no longer be shared with IBIS-TRAD 7. If you still need this feature, use version 6 of the IBIS-TRAD software.
How can I share a budget between different budgeting programs?
Budgets can be shared between different budgeting programs via IBIS-TRAD’s optional Cuf module. After opening the budget, you can export it as a CUF-XML file. This file can then be opened with other software.
When you receive a CUF-XML file, you can open it in IBIS-TRAD with the CUF-XML option on the Import screen.
I received a budget, but when I try to open it, I receive a notification that says, “The budget has an unknown file structure”/the description on the management window says, “not accessible.”
The budget you received was probably made with a more recent version of IBIS-TRAD. You can ask the person who sent you the budget to save it using a file format that your version of the software can open. You can check which version of IBIS-TRAD you have via Help/Info/Version.
The person who sent you the budget can export the budget via the File menu and the TRADXML option. They can then select version 6.90 or 6.80, instead of 7.00, from the drop-down menu.
How can I import an RSU/ZSU/RSX/ZSX file in IBIS-TRAD?
In order to open an RSU/ZSU/RSX/ZSX file in IBIS-TRAD, use the File Import RAW specification option. The newly generated RAW budget will automatically comply with the calculation method and have the form of a RAW specification or framework agreement.
My print shows asterisks in a column (*******) / Print contains *** as a result of an excessively large number?
When your print shows ********, it means that the column in question is too narrow for the number it contains. There are several ways to resolve this issue:
Widen the print layout of the column in question.
In the Print menu, either turn off the “fit to page width” option or turn it on, along with the “via scaling” setting.
Change the layout settings via the “Change layout” option in the Start menu. When you double-click on the column that shows the *******, you can widen the column by adjusting the number of pixels on the Column tab. This will affect the printed version of your budget.
How can I print a budget in portrait/landscape mode?
Choose the “Change layout” option in the Start menu. Right-click and select “Layout properties.”
On the “General” tab, select Landscape/Portrait/Set by Printer.
How can I enable text wrapping for a column?
Choose the “Change layout” option in the Start menu. Right-click on the column name and select “Column properties.” Check the “Text on multiple lines and automatic wrapping” option on the “Cell Type” tab.
How can I modify the headers and footers?
When printing budgets, you can manage the headers and footers by selecting the Header and Footer Settings option in the File menu.
You can open a header or footer by double-clicking it in the header and footer management window or via the “Open” option in the quick menu (accessed by right-clicking). After opening, the section “Cover page” will automatically be selected. Use the drop-down menu under Display to select other options.
The design of headers and footers
Sections
Seen vertically, a header and footer text file consists of five sections; these are shown in the display bar on the left side of the screen:
Cover page
Header first page
Header all pages
Footer first page
Footer all pages
Margins
Seen horizontally, a header and footer text file has three margins:
Left margin
Centre margin
Right margin
The left and right margin are both divided into two columns.
The grid’s screen layout determines how each section will be printed and how the different columns are aligned. Via the quick menu options General, Column, Row and Field, you can change various layout properties.
Variables in header and footer text file
A header and footer text file uses variables. These are listed between brackets (“[…]”). Some variables are determined by the system, e.g. the file name, the page number and the date of printing. Other variables are copied from the budget’s “General information,” e.g. the reference date and the surface area. You can enter and/or modify this information via File/General information. Furthermore, there are variables that are taken from the budget, but which are not listed under “General information.”

How can I add an image to my headers and footers?
In the opened section of the header and footer text file, select Image from the Insert menu. You can add an image to a single field/cell in the header and footer text file. The size of the image determines the dimensions of this field/cell.
If you want to add an image to your headers and/or footers, make sure it is located in a folder that you set up as an image folder in IBIS-TRAD. You can access this folder via File/Settings/Program options/General – Bitmap.
My printout of the budget is not the same as my colleague’s printout?
First, check whether you have both used the same print settings (see File Print Budget). These settings are found under the heading “How do you want to print?”
Finally, the issue may be caused by different page settings (see File Print Page Settings).
